The month of September was a whirlwind of activity! PACE centers across the state celebrated when Governor Cooper proclaimed September to be North Carolina PACE Month for a second year. Here at Elderhaus we were honored when the City of Wilmington and New Hanover County also issued supporting proclamations. Mayor Saffo joined our Board of Directors and Founder, Linda Pearce in a tour of our PACE facility. During our Community Open House Commissioner Barfield visited with our staff and Dr. Anne Glass of UNCW’s Gerontology department gave a talk on aging in place. Our participants and staff took advantage of the opportunity to party with a Spirit Week which included Made-Up Monday, Fat Tuesday, Hat Day, T-Shirt Thursday, and Football Friday.
Of course, not every day was just all fun and proclamations. Our entire PACE team worked with the state to complete our CMS (Centers for Medicaid & Medicaid Services) audit. The audit is an opportunity for Elderhaus to identify areas of excellence as well as places we can improve. We appreciate the review that will help us as we work to become an even stronger organization.
