ACAP Cape Fear will offer its free monthly educational program on August 8, 2023, titled “The Juggling Act: Work, Home, and Caregiving.” The program is in-person at First Baptist Church Activities Center, located at 1939 Independence Blvd in Wilmington. The program begins at 6pm. If you’re unable to attend in person, the program will be livestreamed.
Attendees will learn about trends and strategies for balancing the many demands of working outside the home while also caring for one’s family and older loved ones.
The program will be led by Jennifer Olsen, Doctor of Public Health (DrPH), and Chief Executive Officer of the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers. Dr. Olsen has previously managed global initiatives to drive large-scale change for several of the world’s greatest threats. Her doctoral research focused on utilizing non-traditional information sources such as social media to inform public health action.
ACAP Cape Fear is a chapter of ACAPcommunity.org, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The Cape Fear chapter launched in September 2022. ACAP provides a variety of free, monthly educational programs that offer information, resources, support, and community for adult-children as they care for their aging parents and for themselves. ACAP chapters are community-based and community-led by professionals who understand the joys and challenges of the caregiving experience. While the focus of ACAP programs is on adult-children of aging parents, all are welcome.
